Halloween in Las Vegas

Halloween is right around the corner, next week actually, and if you\’re like me you\’re kinda excited about it. OK, you\’re really excited. I love Halloween, beside the fantastic people watching you have the opportunity to dress up as anything you want! How fun that you can be someone else for a night!

Las Vegas, NV is the #3 destination for Halloween in the US, behind Salem, MA (which I went to one year and was amazing!) and New Orleans, LA (Next year, fingers crossed). This will be my second Halloween in Vegas and they make sure to have something for everyone! The State of Nevada has even gone so far as to have a state holiday on the same day. Nevada day. Yep, I\’m not joking. Every year Nevada celebrates its inception on October 31st by shutting down all state government and many local businesses follow suit. I\’m from NY, where our first Nation\’s capital sat and we don\’t celebrate New York day. I honestly think Nevada is the only one. If I\’m wrong please tell me below! Enough about that let\’s get to the festivities!

If you\’re a clubber, and many who visit Las Vegas are, many of the clubs on the strip are hosting theme nights. Some of the biggest are Vanity Nightclub\’s Costume Contest on October 28th and then annual Fetish and Fantasy Ball on October 29th, both in the Hard Rock Hotel. The Palms hosts an annual Heaven & Hell ball at their Moon and the View club on October 29th and international DJ, Calvin Harris, is spinning a Halloween party at Omnia in Caesars Palace on October 28th.

So clubbing isn\’t for you but you still want to dress up and have a few, the Las Vegas Halloween Pub Crawl not only runs on October 31st but on the day before and the day after. The day after they\’ve affectionately named their pub crawl the Hangover Halloween Pub Crawl.

Las Vegas isn\’t just about drinking and getting wasted, you might want to take in a show and you can! Want to see something risqué? Zombie Burlesque might be what you\’re looking for. Perhaps Magic is more your speed. Famed mentalist Frederick da Silva\’s Paranormal the Mindreading Magic Show is running at Bally\’s and expect to have your mind blown. Or perhaps a walking tour is what you crave. Haunted Vegas Ghost Tours conducts tours year round and provides you with ghost hunting equipment. So fun.

Need more action and/or scares? Fright Dome at Circus Circus boasts \”the most extreme haunted houses in the world!\” With 6 haunted houses, 4 scare zones and amusement rides all under one price who can go wrong? One piece of advice, go early or mid-week otherwise you\’ll be waiting on lines anywhere from 2-3 hours to get into one house.

Adventure Combat Ops produced a paintball game that will get your adrenaline pumping with Operation Zombie Apocalypse. Participants will feel like they\’re really in the Walking Dead.

Want to get out of the city? Bonnie Spring Ranch hosts Bonnie Screams a haunted adventure, where live actors can and will jump out of nowhere to make the scares that much bigger. Bonnie Springs is one of the most haunted locations in Nevada and had the Ghost Adventures team from the Travel Channel to confirm it.

There\’s fun for families too. Haunted Reef at Mandalay Bay allows kids under 12 and in costume in for free! Or head out to the Springs Preserve their annual Haunted Harvest. It is full of fun with carnival games and rides, a petting zoo and trick or treat stations!

As a local you can find a lot of community parties happening, maybe even in your neighborhood. Last year I was lucky enough to go up to Anthem for the neighborhood Halloween party. It was awesome. The whole community got together and had a huge street fair with haunted houses and trick or treating for adults as well as kids.

There is so much to see and do here and not just for Halloween. Any type of fun can be had, you just have to look for it. Until next time, life is short, travel now!
