WOD Wednesday from Yellowstone!

Hi Everyone, yes it\’s true I\’m in Yellowstone National Park. Seeing geysers and Hot Springs and hopefully I\’ll spy a buffalo or two, OH or maybe an ELK! Being in a National Park I always marvel at the amount of activities you can do in this expanse of wide open land. It\’s incredible to me. The amature photographer in me loves it. There is so much for the eye to play with. But we\’re not here to talk about nature or photography, this is the forum of fitness.

That being said then of course you have to talk about parks. They are playgrounds for fitness! You beg to differ? Well let me share my two cents. You have to walk in order to get the good shots. True you can drive up fairly close but in order to preserve the fragile ecosystem of the park you will have to walk to get to the really good stuff. And although the walks are made for everyone to do, they will almost always include an incline and a decline. So make the most out of these little walks and speed walk them! It will increase your heart rate and get your blood pumping.

There\’s also a variety of sporting activities you can do in National parks…biking, hiking, rafting and running…away from the wildlife that thinks you\’re pretty. Above all else its a chance to change-up your regular routine. To get out and explore this beautiful world we live in. While out exploring you can do this workout too! Enjoy! Until next time.

WOD Wednesday

For time: (A little bit of interval training, it\’s a quick one)

2 full rounds of Tabata (16 sets of 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest)

Alternate between Burpees and Air squats.

Try to better each round! So your workout will look like this: Round 1: as many burpees as you can in 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds. Round 2: as many air squats as you can in 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds. Alternate rounds 1 and 2 for 16 rounds total and you\’re done.
